Budding filmmakers looking to show off their talent need look no further than the 48 FILM Project Competition. Open through December 20, 2015, the competition is a 48-hour film contest where contestants may enter a number of times to compete for a screening in front of pros at the Director’s Guild of America, $48,000 toward a real production, and a host of other amazing prizes.
Sponsored by Sony, Catalyst Prepare and Magix, the contest is a unique one, in that individuals or teams can enter multiple times throughout the year, but each entry will be truly unique. When an entrant chooses to start their project, a countdown timer will begin and they are given 3 elements: a character, a dialogue line and a prop, all of which must be included in the film.
In advance of kicking off an entrance, entrants can prep a team, round up actors and a location and figure out equipment. What they cannot do in advance, are the following:
- Script writing
- Directing
- Costume design and creation
- Props and set design and building
- Shooting
- Editing
- Sound recording
- Processing
- Production
