Fujifilm X-T1 firmware update coming this June

Fujifilm Corporation today announced that it is releasing a free firmware update for both the Fujifilm X-T1 and Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition in late June of this year. The 4.0 update brings with it a new AF system with better autofocus performance as well as a handful of other improvements. Fujifilm says that the update will “reflect feedback from users.”

The new Zone and Wide Tracking modes are going to make it easier to capture moving subjects, and the AF’s accuracy has been sharpened up to focus faster in lower-light and low-contrast conditions. Also in the mix are Eye Detection autofocus, Auto Macro mode, Exposure Compensation control for those who wish to manually tweak exposure, and an optimized algorithm that promises more natural and smooth AF when shooting video.
