Panasonic’s Lumix G7 camera boasts 4K video for under a G

Panasonic just rolled out the all-new Lumix G – the DMC-G7 – a Micro Four Thirds body with a 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor, ISO up to 25,600, and something they’re calling a Venus Engine image chip, which contains a potent quad-core CPU for lightning fast signal processing.

For those of us into pictures that move, the mirrorless powerhouse can capture – wait for it – 24 and 30 fps at 3,840 x 2,160 resolution (QFHD). For those who aren’t looking to capture or deliver in 4K, there is an option to shoot in 1080p as well.

Hybrid shooters will enjoy the ability to pull high res photos from 4K30 video, saving the shots as an 8MP still equivalent. This feature was first revealed last year on the LX100.

Price and availability are both good news: mid-June for $800 INCLUDING a 14-42mm kit lens.
